Immersive Dance
In 2018 we teamed up with sound artist Tom Montagliano and the Rochester Dance Theatre to create a uniquely immersive, multi-sensory performance. The audience sits within a field of custom-fabricated vertical tubes of light encircled by an array of speakers. Dancers weave fluidly through the illuminated space, moving up and down a central stage, across the floor, and around the audience.
Light and sound dynamically track the dancers' movements, spinning and cascading through three-dimensional space to draw the audience into an otherworldly audiovisual journey.
After the dancers concluded, we passed around a glowing crystal wand, empowering audience members to direct the movement of sound and light throughout the space, transforming the room with each gesture.
