Acura Table

Multitouch musical experience for Acura @ The Esquire House

The Esquire House

The Esquire House was a yearly event series by Esquire magazine where they would take-over unique and lavish spaces and host premium events with celebrity, art, and charity auctions.  In 2012 they took over the illustrious clock tower in Dumbo Brooklyn and curated a one-in-a-lifetime event branded in "The Ultimate Bachelor Pad".

The Acura Table

For the event series, Acura sponsored a unique branded activation to be created in the beautiful second floor office.  Hush Studios led a team with diverse skills to transform every inch of the room into a multi-sensory art experience.

The Energy Flow

Drawing from the flow diagrams of the Acura drive-train, we helped create a multitouch projection-mapped elastic table where energy flows across in a stream.  People could gather around and push their fingers into the fabric surface to distort and manipulate the flow of this energy.

Deep Impressions

Using sampled sounds from an Acura vehicle we  created a generative musical system which transformed the table's elastic surface into a instrument.  We built a multi-touch system using an IR camera and IR lights beneath the fabric.

Strangers and friends would gather around the table, pushing into the fabric to manipulate the flowing particles and sharing control over a melodic soundscape.  It made for a really unique and memorable environment.
